Our teams ______
The best in the business
We’re proud of our team.
Good, caring people who are passionate about what they do. Whether that’s helping candidates to find their dream veterinary jobs, working with practices to build their culture, throwing themselves into charity fundraising or having a laugh in the office, they smash it.
Get to know us below – and don’t hesitate to get in touch with any member of the team if you have any questions.
Justin has worked in veterinary recruitment since 2009, and founded JHP in 2015. His favourite part of the job is working with the team and speaking to the many clients and candidates he’s become friends with over the years. He loves working in the industry, but admits he’d make a rubbish vet or nurse – he’s too squeamish! Outside work he loves sport, especially golf, which he plays most weeks, and football, in which he coaches one of his two son’s youth teams.
If he could place anybody into a practice he’d go for Micky Flanagan, to keep the rest of the staff entertained – although he thinks he’d be in high demand!
Veterinary Divisional Manager
Josh has worked for JHP since 2016 and loves his role, helping people to find positions which enable them to progress and develop their career, especially helping them to fall back in love with the industry when they’ve been on the brink of leaving. He has two young children who keep him on his toes, and enjoys playing 5-a-side football on a Monday night, as well as being a fair weather cyclist.
His dream placement would be Will Ferrell, in his opinion by far the funniest actor on the planet, if only so that he could speak to him on a regular basis!
Senior Recruitment Consultant
Abbie joined the team in 2017, having previously worked in veterinary practices around the UK, and as a practice manager in Auckland, New Zealand. She is most at home liaising with her clients and candidates and is passionate about creating strong relationships. She has also given talks at The Royal Veterinary College to students about their future careers. Her spare time is mainly taken up with Lulu, with whom she competes locally in dressage, and hopes to move up to national level. She also has Wallace, a cat she rehomed from a house of over 70 cats in Glasgow, who loves cuddles – but only on his terms!
Senior Recruitment Consultant
Kamz joined the team in 2017 and works on both locum and permanent positions, particularly enjoying being able to positively influence candidates’ careers. He has two cats, Lava and Rocky, who spend most of their time at the foot of his bed. When not at work he is most likely to be found in a swimming pool, and he has represented Great Britain at European competitions in water polo. He also enjoys socialising over a cold beer or two.
Reginald D Hunter would be his man to place in a dream practice – absolutely hilarious and sure to have fantastic stories for the team!
Chloe joined the team in 2021 after leaving the property industry and thoroughly enjoys the role, getting to know veterinary professionals throughout the country. She has a cheeky-chappy German shepherd, Duke, who loves walks on the beach and steak dinners. Outside work, she enjoys brunch with friends – preferably bottomless – reading and travelling.
If she could place any candidate into a practice it would be Kristen Bell who, as the narrator of Gossip Girl, should be well placed to share any in-practice goss!
Joe has been working at JHP since 2018 and really enjoys the fast-paced nature of the role and the relationships he gets to build with both clients and candidates. Outside of the office, he loves the outdoors, and he is a very keen cyclist, racing for his local club. On weekends he can usually be found somewhere outside, walking or riding.
His dream hire would be Robert Downey Jr – because who wouldn’t want to meet Iron Man?
Josh joined JHP in 2019 and loves the job, finding it very rewarding helping others achieve their goals and enjoys liaising with his candidates and clients. At home, he has a chocolate Labrador called Riley, who is the most chilled out dog he’s ever met! He plays football for his local team – and has played for the same team since he was 6. He enjoys socialising with his friends and girlfriend, usually in the pub.
If he could place anybody into a practice he’d pick Kevin Hart, just to be able to chat with him on a weekly basis.
Mike joined the team in 2020 and is responsible for recruitment across the USA. He really enjoys the challenge and the diversity of the role and, most importantly, the team and environment at JHP. At home he has a crazy springer spaniel, Barnaby, and Tia, a veteran of the horse world, as well as a currently unnamed crested gecko – he isn’t currently sure whether it’s a boy or a girl! His family own a livery yard, hosting sheep, horses, dogs, cats and the odd cow. He is a football nut, playing when his body allows and coaching both locally and semi-professionally. He loves family walks with lots of fresh air.
Conor has been with team JHP since 2021 and, as an animal lover himself, enjoys being able to contribute to the veterinary industry. He did a week of work experience in his local practice himself at 16, but can safely say he doesn’t have the stomach for the job!
He is a board sport enthusiast, and is happiest surfing along a coast or snowboarding in the Alps – although if he could have any superpower he’d take it one step further and choose the ability to fly!
Compliance and HR Manager
Jo joined the team in 2019 as our compliance manager, and has held similar roles before, making the most of her organisational skills and keen eye for detail. She enjoys the variety of her role as every day is different and challenging. Outside of work she loves socialising with friends and family, and getting outside walking and cycling – especially with the beauties of Devon on the doorstep! She doesn’t currently have any pets, but would love either a dog or a cat, having grown up around dogs, cats, hamsters, goldfish and even chickens!
Lydia has been working for JHP Recruitment since the company started. She is the Accounts Manager and looks after the sales and purchase ledgers. She has worked in an accounts role since 2005. Lydia enjoys working at JHP as likes the fast pace and the friendly team environment.
Outside of work Lydia enjoys going to the gym, reading and spending time with her 2 young boys, who have two rabbits called Snowball and Midnight.
Louisa has worked at JHP since 2018 and is responsible for invoicing and paying locums. She loves being part of the JHP Team and working in a busy office environment. She has worked in accounts since 1998 – and is great with numbers!
Admin & Compliance Assistant
Rhianna first joined the team on work experience in 2018, and has been with us since leaving school, helping with compliance and around the office. She loves the fun environment and varied workload. At home she has a British bulldog, Lula, who doesn’t really do much except eat and sleep, but loves attention! She enjoys spending time with family, going to the beach and playing netball, as well as running her own business, which she started when she was 16.
