Veterinary Surgeon - Merseyside - Ref RL13358
An exciting opportunity has become available for a full or part time Veterinary Surgeon at our clients practice in Merseyside. Due to having a large team and excellent support network they can accommodate full or part time applicants and can offer various flexible shift patterns. The current full-time vets tend to work four 9-hour days, or three 9-hour days and one 6-hour day. They also have part time vets working one or two days a week. The rota involves 1:4 weekends on duty, with time off in lieu.
The practice balances providing their own OOH cover with outsourcing to a neighbouring practice to improve the OOH rota. They provide OOH cover to own clients until 10pm. Typically, you will be required to do one weekday OOH shift every other week. Weekends alternate between Friday/Sunday cover and just Saturday cover. OOH is incentivised with bonus paid for cases seen.
Holiday allowance is 33 days per year including Bank Holidays, a day annual leave for birthday and length of service days (pro rata for part time).
Your role would involve working in their small animal team performing routine consultations, diagnostics, and surgical procedures. A busy surgical caseload gives the opportunity to gain experience in more complex surgical procedures if desired. Salary £40,000 - £55,000 DOE.
This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to join a friendly 12 Small Animal Vet team which is well supported by brilliant RVNs and excellent lay staff.
The practice is well equipped with the usual tools (digital x-ray, in house laboratory, blood machines, ECG, ultrasound scanner, endoscope etc) which allows the opportunity to work up cases. Advanced soft tissue, ophthalmic and orthopaedic procedures are performed in house. Advanced ultrasonography is provided by visiting specialists. A generous benefits package includes CPD allowance, RCVS fees, VDS membership, BVA membership and Private Health care. Competitive salary dependant on experience.
Applicant should be a Veterinary Surgeon and possess a relevant academic qualification (MRCVS). Experience is preferable, but not essential. You should have a professional approach to providing an excellent clinical service to clients, possess good communication and interpersonal skills and be self-motivated to work independently or as part of a team.
You will have the support of your colleagues, but also the clinical freedom to work up your own cases. Developing areas of special interest is encouraged with a generous CPD allowance.
