My client is looking for a permanent Full Time RVN to assist their veterinary surgeons in the diagnosis, treatment and care of sick or injured small and farm animals, including horses. The role will be to work as part of a team to provide the utmost professional care for their clients, and promote the reputation of the clinic. In addition, help to educate owners on how best to look after their animals. Full time role*. *May consider Part Time - Monday, Thursday, Friday. Weekend Rota is 1:4 Saturday mornings. Mainly based at the clinic but occasionally having to assist veterinary surgeons on site, typical tasks include: Assisting the veterinary surgeon with handling, examining and treating small animals, livestock and horses. Administering drugs, anaesthetics and injections at the request of the veterinary surgeon. Preparing animals for surgery, including liaising with clients to gain completed pre-operation, consent and post-operation care forms. Maintaining, sterilising and laying out surgical equipment. Undertaking diagnostic tests. Preparing and sending off laboratory samples. Taking x-rays. Caring for, exercising and grooming animal ‘in-patients’. Giving advice to owners regarding caring for and breeding animals. Maintaining and up-dating records on the computer. Book appointments, deal with general clinic emails and assist other team members, as and when required. To undertake any additional duties of a similar level of responsibility as may be required from time to time, as directed by a veterinary surgeon or practice manager. And more besides...
