Job Role

Veterinary Surgeon

Job Type

My client is looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to work on a full time or part-time basis.

Full time hours are 4.5 days per week ( 40 hrs) but part time applications are welcomed, they are also open to the option of part days/school hours. The normal working week consists of days of 9:00am -7:00pm with a half day each week. The mornings are a mix of operating or consulting from 9:00am - 12:00pm with 1-hour admin at the end of the morning. Afternoon consultations start at 2:00pm and run through until 6:30pm with half an hour admin built-in.

Bank holidays are limited and shared out fairly. They are open Saturday mornings, and their Vets work 1:3, consulting 9:00am – 12:00pm with breakfast included and time in lieu given back the following Friday afternoon, making a nice long weekend every third week.

There are no out of hours with this role as cover is provided by Vets Now. There is also some flexibility in the days they require cover, they are happy to discuss different options if something works best for you.

The salary for this role is up to £52,000 pro rata dependant on experience. They also offer a relocation allowance of up to £5000 and a welcome bonus of up to £1500

My client is a single site, purpose-built small animal practice with an established client base and a supportive and friendly team. They have off road parking and two operating theatres, in-house laboratory, tonometry and a multi parameter. They have separate dog and cat wards, an imaging room including digital x-ray and ultrasound. They are a RCVS accredited training practice and an RCVS General Practice accredited. They are a cat friendly clinic and working towards being a rabbit-friendly practice also.

Their close-knit team is made up of 7 Veterinary Surgeons, 7 Registered Veterinary Nurses, and a team of 6 Receptionists. They provide a high standard of care, and they value and encourage professional growth for all their staff. They encourage staff discussion and input through monthly meetings and regular appraisals. Amongst their Vet team, they have 2 certificate holders. They also have regular nights out and chippy Fridays along with a half-day shopping at Christmas.

The role would suit a vet who enjoys all aspects of first opinion practice. The successful candidate would need excellent communication skills and enjoy dealing with clients. In return, they would offer a supportive clinic with opportunities to further and develop your career.
