Night Veterinary Surgeon - West Yorkshire - Ref BP11329
My client is looking for a Night Veterinary Surgeon to join the team. The main responsibilities will be caring for the in-patients, carrying out emergency consultations, and performing emergency procedures when required.
They currently run a busy out-of-hours service for their own clients and the clients of the member practices. They have dedicated night Registered Veterinary Nurses who are supported by rotating Student Veterinary Nurses, Veterinary Care Assistants, and Receptionists.
When it comes to hours and rotas, they are very flexible. They would be happy to consider a variety of patterns including:
. 7 on 14 off
. 4 on 7 off
. 3 on 7 off
or another option if that suits you!
They would love to hear from both full-time and part-time applicants. They would also be happy to accept applicants wanting a mix of day and night shifts.
As the Night Veterinary Surgeon, they would want to integrate you into the team. Shift overlaps and ward rounds with the day team at either end of your shift will allow you to get to know other clinicians, discuss cases and bounce ideas around. They communicate regularly over email and whats app and hold regular team meetings which you would be invited to attend in exchange for either TOIL or overtime pay.
The salary will be up to £70,000 depending on experience.
They see some interesting and exciting cases and take referrals in surgery, laparoscopy, medicine, exotics, and behaviour. Their aim is to provide outstanding levels of clinical and customer care ensuring that they tailor treatment plans to the individual patient and owner.
Their practice is fully equipped with CT, laparoscopy kit, arthroscopy, ventilator, and much more but by far and away the thing they are proudest of is the amazing team. They are always happy to invest in people; certificates and further study is encouraged, and are happy to support people in following their passion.
They are friendly and supportive. They work hard but have fun while they are at work too. They pride themselves on having an open and honest working environment and place importance on talking about mental health. They hold monthly clinical governance meetings, weekly meetings to discuss cases, and regular journal clubs to which the whole team is invited. They also have monthly Schwartz rounds to talk about the non-clinical aspects of work.
They currently have 20 Veterinary Surgeons, 19 Registered Veterinary Nurses, and 33 Reception and Support team members.
They have certificate holders in surgery, medicine, ECC, and exotics and also have Vets working towards dentistry certificates and have a full-time clinical behaviourist.
They are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon who is confident working as the sole Vet but there will always be backup in the form of the on-call rota. You will have a team of experienced and highly trained Nurses as well as support from the reception team who are on-site until midnight.
An ECC certificate holder would really enjoy the diverse and interesting caseload that they see. This role would also be suitable for someone looking to gain more experience in the ECC field.
