Our clients have a great opportunity for a night veterinary surgeon to join their hospital team - working 7 nights on 21 nights off. This part time rota allows a fantastic work life balance, the 3-week block ‘off’ allows vets to pursue other opportunities if they wish – such as further study, a different aspect of clinical practice, diversification into a different field or to have a good balance between work and family/leisure time. The position is also well suited to someone that wishes to live abroad and travel once a month for work. There is a very interesting and varied caseload, ideal for a certificate holder or someone wanting to, or currently studying towards a post graduate certificate in emergency and critical care or medicine. Certificate study is fully supported. Night vets work with a registered veterinary nurse, and a second support person, either a student veterinary nurse or patient care assistant. There is support when required in the form of a vet and nurse on call system. The hospital is well equipped with digital x-ray, including dental, high quality ultrasound, laparoscopic equipment, full inhouse laboratory- including coagulation machine, lactate and blood gas analyser. There are separate cat and dog wards and the ability to perform high quality medicine and care for critical patients. The day team consists of 5 vets with a range of interests- including- imaging, surgery and medicine, supported by a lovely team of nurses and receptionists. The ideal candidate will be confident both medically and surgically, have great communication skills be passionate and enjoy the adrenalin and rewards that come with emergency work.
