Full Time – Lead Veterinary Surgeon – Cardiff – Ref: JM10424

Job Role

Veterinary Surgeon

Job Type

Permanent

Location

Cardiff

My client has an excellent opportunity for a Lead Vet to join their friendly team. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving excellence in customer service and clinical care whilst promoting pet wellbeing, delivering preventive services, and treating sick and injured pets.

Every day at the practice is different, you will carry out 15-minute consults, with time to read up cases and call clients, so you don’t leave at the end of a day with a long to-do list! Due to the sole charge, the practice is looking for some experience in consulting, the role will also include some surgery time, but this can be altered if you prefer the medical aspect.

The working day is 9 am-7 pm with a lunch break in the middle. The practice uses a dedicated emergency service, so they don’t do nights or weekends, (other than rota’s Saturday mornings 9 am-1 pm). They want their staff to have an excellent work/life balance, their full-time vets work a 4-day week and always get the same day off each week so this can be achieved.

The salary is up to £65,000 + benefits (subject to experience).

The practice is well-established, the first opinion based in Cardiff, with access to an excellent mix of countryside and city life! The practice is well-equipped with an in-house lab, digital x-ray, K laser, u/s scanner, Laparoscopic and endoscopic equipment, and dental x-ray. The facilities allow them to do as much as they can in-house, allowing their vet full clinical freedom. The team is made up of 5 vets, and 6 Nurses. Across the team, they have a wealth of experience, so there is good surgically and medically support - all the team is willing to help one another and discuss cases.

An experienced veterinary surgeon is required, ideally, with leadership and management knowledge and relevant experience preferred but mentoring and support are available. You will have strong communication, organisational and people management skills, and understanding that as a senior vet you must lead by example. Knowledge of veterinary finance is highly desirable. RCVS membership and the right to work in the UK are essential. Clean driver’s license required.

Benefits - Subject to Pro Rata:

· Enhanced holiday entitlement and increasing holiday based on length of service

· CPD paid days and allowance
