Clinical Director - Buckinghamshire - Ref BP12312
An opportunity not to be missed! This is rare chance to further your career in a practice that has a forward-looking approach whilst maintaining the traditional values of animal care and client trust. My client is looking for a Clinical Director to join their well organised and productive team.
This is a full-time role, working a 5-day week (with a 1:4 weekend rota and time-off in lieu). They provide their own hospitalisation for any ongoing cases shared with an experienced RVN when necessary.
They are a practice with an excellent reputation for providing high quality care whilst still enjoying what they do. They provide a friendly, supportive environment for the staff with a varied caseload alongside the capacity to advance and enhance your skills enabling them to get the most out of being in general practice. They have got the brains, the training, and the kit: they like to use them.
It is a small animal vet practice (with a staff of 6 Veterinary Surgeons (5 FTE, 6 RVNS, 1 SVN and a VCA) providing top class veterinary care. They are a long-standing mostly home-grown team with a progressive and welcoming attitude.
The main surgery is equipped with full diagnostic, laboratory, surgical and hospitalisation facilities. This enables them to have the satisfaction of investigating and treating the patients to a high clinical standard whilst referring to specialists when appropriate. They perform their own cardiac scans, endoscopy (rhinoscopy & otoscopy all the way through to colonoscopy), laparoscopy (90%+ of spays are “keyhole”), fracture repair and stifle TTA’s; and improve the quality of the surgical procedures and outcomes with bipolar diathermy, harmonic scalpels and “Enseal” equipment. Dental x-rays are available at both sites with air-driven equipment, sharp instruments and “Vet-tome” to make “dentals” a pleasure rather than a chore.
The suitable candidate will be an experienced and confident Veterinary Surgeon capable of delivering high quality and personable veterinary care. Ideally, they would like the candidate to have some management or Clinical Director experience; but they would consider someone ready to take the next step into management as support for the transition into the CD role can be provided if required.
A demonstrable desire, enthusiasm and energy to be involved in the development and growth of the practice is very important. You will need good clinical knowledge, sound judgement and the ability to mentor others. You must be confident in the generality of matters encountered in small animal practice and be able to lead and support a team (both clinical and non-clinical): and still have the drive to develop the practice and allow it to flourish.
